Data breaches in healthcare have seen costs rise 53.3% since 2020 to an average of $10.93m per incident – significantly higher than the $4.45m average across all sectors. The IBM study suggests artificial intelligence (AI) could help reduce both the cost and the length of data breaches. AI and automation were found to cut the breach containment time by 108 days and costs by $1.76m. The healthcare sector also faces additional threats via third parties and suppliers.
