Verizon will issue free medical identity credentials to 2.3 million US physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners starting in January. The credentials will allow providers to access healthcare IT applications and platforms, such as electronic medical records and health information exchanges. Verizon’s Medical Data Exchange platform aims to overcome barriers to e-health adoption and meet meaningful-use requirements for health data sharing.
