A survey of 2,958 physicians found that 24% believe electronic medical records (EMR) will have a negative effect on patient care. They also worry that healthcare reform will result in less pay and lower-quality care. Privacy, security, and the doctor-patient relationship are cited as concerns. The survey also found that doctors fear the quality of care will deteriorate under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), and that reimbursements will decrease. 65% of doctors believe the quality of healthcare will deteriorate in the next five years, while only 18% believe it will improve. Additionally, 58% of doctors view the impact of healthcare reform on patients negatively.
