A coding glitch in general practice IT system SystmOne, resulted in England’s National Health Service (NHS) accidentally sharing confidential health data relating to 150,000 patients. The coding error led to type 2 objections, which stop data from being shared for reasons beyond the patient’s direct care, not being sent to NHS Digital, enabling the details to be used for clinical audit research.
