Average cost of healthcare data breach rises to nearly $11M

The average cost of a healthcare data breach has risen to $10.93 million, an 8% increase from last year, according to a report by IBM Security. This makes healthcare the most expensive industry for data breaches for the 13th consecutive year. The report also revealed that since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the average cost of a healthcare data breach has surged by 53%.
