California medical device manufacturer reports breach of 30,000 consumers

California-based Inogen, a manufacturer of portable oxygen concentrators, suffered a data breach after an employee email account was hacked. The breach affected 30,000 customers, with unauthorized access to the account between January and March. The hacker may have obtained customer data such as Medicare identification numbers and insurance policy information. Inogen is offering impacted customers an insurance reimbursement policy and a year of free credit monitoring. The company has implemented new security measures, including two-factor authentication.
