Healthcare organizations in Europe are struggling to use blockchain in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The European Union Blockchain Observatory & Forum has released a report stating that although there are tensions and uncertainties about how to protect data and use blockchain whilst abiding by GDPR, there are still ways to achieve it. The report advises starting with a big picture analysis, avoiding storing personal data on a blockchain, collecting personal data off-chain or on private, permissioned blockchain networks, and being transparent with users.
