Epic Systems, a major electronic health record company, has decided to no longer pursue integrations with Google Cloud. Instead, it will focus on integrating with Amazon Web Services and Microsoft’s Azure service due to “insufficient interest” from customers in Google. This comes as Cerner, Epic’s rival, also chose AWS despite being offered incentives from Google. Google has faced privacy and security concerns after partnering with Ascension Health for a data-sharing deal. The scope of how patient information is being used is still unclear.
