Over 92% of patients believe privacy is a right and do not want their health data for sale, according to a survey by the American Medical Association. The survey showed that nearly 75% of patients are concerned about protecting the privacy of their personal health data, with only 20% knowing the extent of companies and individuals with access to their data. Patients are most comfortable with physicians and hospitals having access to their health data, and least comfortable with social media sites, employers, and technology companies having access.
