Software supply chain attacks increased by more than 300% between 2020 and 2021, and it is predicted that 45% of organisations will have experienced a ransomware attack on their digital supply chains by 2025. Attackers are often drawn to software supply chains because of the widespread access to sensitive information and the potential for high payouts. Examples of the damage these attacks can cause include the SolarWinds attack and the breach of Kaseya, which impacted more than 2,000 of its customers.
