Walmart, Walgreens & CVS roll out new care options as pharmacists’ scope of practice grows

New laws expanding the remit of pharmacists have led Walmart, Walgreens and CVS to offer patient care previously available only through a physician’s office. The services include testing and treatment for illnesses including flu and COVID-19. However, the services are currently cash only and could be costly. Retail chains are aiming to attract patients looking to avoid time-consuming visits to their physician’s office.
