70% of US IT Leaders Told Not to Disclose Data Breaches

Over 42% of IT leaders have been told to suppress information regarding data breaches, rising to 70.7% in the US, according to a report by Bitdefender. The practice, which contravenes data breach laws and enables further attacks, is less prevalent in Europe. Bitdefender’s 2023 Cybersecurity Assessment found that software vulnerabilities and zero-day attacks were the most significant threat, followed by social engineering threats, supply chain attacks and ransomware. Nearly three-quarters of respondents planned to increase their security budget this year.
