Trend Micro reported a big vulnerability in 7-Zip, a popular file archiving utility app. The vulnerability (CVE-2025-0411) allows hackers to bypass the Mark of the Web (MotW) security feature on Windows and remotely execute code on PCs from a malware-infected archive file. The flaw was patched by the app’s developer in November 2024 with version 24.09, but many users may still be vulnerable as the app lacks an auto-update feature.
