65,000 Kaiser Permanente workers vote to authorize strike

Around 65,000 Kaiser Permanente health workers in the US have voted to strike if union negotiations fail to deliver a new contract by 30 September. The workers, part of a 85,000-strong consortium across 12 organisations, expect a 7% wage increase and a $25 minimum hourly rate. The health firm previously offered a 4% salary hike in some markets, and insists there will be a resolution. A potential strike could hit Kaiser’s 11 million patients.
