Florida-based 21st Century Oncology has been fined $2.3 million by the US Department of Health and Human Services for a 2015 data breach that compromised over 2.2 million patient records. The fine comes after the FBI requested that the provider delay announcement of the breach. The company has also settled a $34.7m case of billing fraud and admitted to falsifying data and paying physicians bonuses for patient referrals.
