2 municipal water facilities report falling to hackers in separate breaches

Two municipal water facilities in Pennsylvania and Texas, serving a combined 2 million residents, reported cyberattacks affecting their operations. The Municipal Water Authority of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, temporarily shut down a drinking-water pump following an attack. The North Texas Municipal Water District reported a ransomware attack involving the theft of sensitive data. Both facilities have taken steps to mitigate the threat and have resumed operations.
