A UK high court judge has ruled that a 13-year-old girl with serious behavioural fits, held in solitary confinement at a Staffordshire mental health facility for nine months, can return home to her mother. The judge criticised the solitary confinement, and said the state was “inflicting serious psychological harm” on the girl, adding that it was a “national scandal”. All attempts to find a therapeutic setting for the girl in the UK failed.
