Fake security alerts aim to trick users into installing unwanted malware or antivirus software. They often use fear tactics, offer no way to close the pop-up, or present unexpected pop-ups, fake scans, and too many alerts. Their characteristics also include missing app icons, contact details within the warning, demands for personal information, or payments, and they encourage software installation, use awkward phrasing, redirect to bogus websites, or present too-good-to-be-true offers.
