100 MILLION Americans in UnitedHealth PII Breach

UnitedHealth confirmed that February’s ransomware attack impacted 100 million people, the largest healthcare data breach in the US. Health insurance, health, billing, and personal information were stolen, causing $2.45bn in losses. The company paid $22m in ransom. Hackers had entered via reused credentials without encountering multi-factor authentication. UnitedHealth admitted this was a significant security weakness. Cyber security job newbie Steven Martin is being criticized for the failure.
