From January to November this year, nearly 1.9 million cyberattacks targeted the healthcare industry in India, according to research conducted by the CyberPeace Foundation. The majority of attacks focused on internet-facing systems using remote desktop protocol, server message block, and old Windows server platforms. Hackers also attempted to exploit protocols to access patient data and injected Trojan viruses and ransomware into networks. The healthcare sector has become an attractive target for cybercriminals due to the strain caused by the pandemic. The foundation recommends improving security measures and conducting regular audits to detect vulnerabilities.
