When ransomware hits hospitals, how can they protect patients? UCSD researchers seek ways to mitigate harm

A ransomware attack on California’s Tri-City Medical Center has resulted in patients being denied necessary care and services, highlighting healthcare providers’ vulnerability. Scripps Health also experienced a cyberattack, and the UC San Diego Health is now investigating the healthcare sector’s susceptibility to cyberattacks. It also plans to create effective coping mechanisms to protect patient safety when such attacks occur.
