VICTORY: Google WEI ‘Stealth DRM’ Plan is Dead (or is it?)

Google has faced pressure to cancel its DRM-like Web Environment Integrity API project, a version of Chrome that could be embedded within Android apps. After criticism, Google announced it would modify the technology to only target WebViews within apps. Critics argue that embedding such tools into the web enables companies to infringe on the user’s ability to set their devices to their needs. Google is accused of using the project to secure more ad views.
