VA OIG finds cybersecurity flaws at Orlando VA Medical Center

The Orlando Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the US has been found to have vulnerable security due to the improper setup of a wireless network. The network lacked security controls in line with VA policies and was not properly coordinated with the VA Office of Information and Technology. The lack of oversight allowed unnecessary risks to be introduced, potentially compromising other VA systems. The incident highlights the importance of involving IT in all network and software projects to ensure proper installation and security mechanisms are in place.
