UK MP faults continuing use of technology susceptible to cyber-attack in NHS

Labour’s Shadow Cabinet Office Minister, Jo Platt, claims that the low number of computers using Windows XP in the NHS reflects the government’s lack of investment in cybersecurity. A report by the National Audit Office in 2017 linked the use of Windows XP with increased vulnerability to cyber attacks. Lord Darzi has called for improvements in NHS cybersecurity, including hiring more experts and isolating specific systems. The government has pledged to update all NHS devices by January 2020. Platt and Lord Darzi emphasize the need for strong leadership and action to protect patient data and healthcare systems.
