U.S. Bans Sale of Kaspersky Cybersecurity Software

The US government banned the sale of Kaspersky Software due to suspicions over the Russian cybersecurity firm’s loyalty and possible threats to US national security. The US Treasury also sanctioned 12 senior Kaspersky figures, excluding the CEO. The moves are part of a larger trend of viewing cybersecurity as an extension of national security, and reflect broader international concerns over companies’ allegiances and potential for national government interference in their operations.
