Would you believe it? Two health centres in the USA have found themselves in a right pickle with a cyber crook group called NoEscape. To make matters worse, the culprits claim both parties haven’t even bothered to respond.
Southeastern Orthopaedic Specialists, based in North Carolina, are one of the unlucky ones. The rogues reckon they’ve locked the network and made off with a small trove of 3GB worth of unspecified files, all this back on October 25th. Flipping Nora, you think, that seems ages ago… Did they sort it out? Well, unfortunately, not. It seems they’ve been hit with a DDoS attack after not responding to any of the demands on the table.
We tried to reach out to Southeastern for a word or two, but our calls were met with radio silence. The only response we got was a dismal ‘time out’ message when attempting to access their website. Even upon retrying, the pages took an eternity to load up and weren’t put together well.
In contrast, the other unfortunate entity on the receiving end of this cyber-pandemonium is a place by the name of Carespring. They provide a variety of services in Cincinnati, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky; from skilled nursing to memory care and various living options for those who need them.
On November 10th, the cunning hackers claim to have seized a whopping 364GB worth of files from Carespring. Allegedly, this stash includes everything from personal staff and patient information to medical records and other internal documents. A real mish-mash of confidential stuff.
And would you have guessed it? Just like Southeastern, Carespring has stayed mum to the cyber thieves’ threats. In response, NoEscape has issued a rather audacious warning. The scoundrels have advised Carespring to contact them swiftly unless they fancy facing further network attacks, legal nightmares, and potential losses worthy of a lottery jackpot. They’ve even gone as far as to threaten leaking a portion of the data if the situation isn’t resolved.
But before we get our knickers too twisted, nobody has confirmed these breaches yet. Not to mention, these blighters known as NoEscape haven’t provided any solid proof to back up their claims. We’ll be keeping a close watch on this, so do keep popping back to our site for the latest updates.
