Indiana-based Allied Physicians of Michiana was hit by SamSam ransomware on May 17. The provider group shut down its network to protect patient data and has been working to restore data without disrupting patient care. The incident is still under investigation to determine if patient data was compromised. Allied Physicians is one of many healthcare organizations targeted by SamSam this year. The US Department of Health and Human Services warned in April that SamSam is actively targeting the healthcare sector.
