Ransomware attacks in 2019 forced some health systems to pay up

Health systems worldwide experienced an increasing number of phishing attacks in 2019, resulting in ransomware attacks and disruptions to operations. Hospitals were forced to resort to paper-based record keeping during these incidents. Major attacks were reported in New Jersey, Alabama, France, and Romania, highlighting the need for improved cybersecurity measures and information sharing within the healthcare industry. However, there were also successful cases of hospitals successfully defending against ransomware attacks, resulting in significant cost savings.
