Providence, struggling to rebound, posts more losses in Q3

Providence reported a Q3 operating loss of $310m as it struggled to recover from a $6.1bn loss in FY 2022. Despite a 5% YoY revenue increase, it was affected by rising pharmaceutical and salary expenses, up 21% and 8% YoY respectively. However, the health system’s reliance on contract labour has come down and the financial outlook is improving. Meanwhile, non-acute volumes and inpatient admissions have grown.
