Noncoding RNA Boosts Gene Expression by Expediting Nuclear Export of Coding RNA

Researchers at the University of Göttingen have discovered antisense RNA (asRNA) boosts gene expression by pairing with messenger RNA (mRNA) to form a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), which is more efficiently exported from a cell’s nucleus to its cytoplasm. The findings could explain how cells adapt to environmental stress and may yield potential disease treatments.
