The number of schools known to contain Reinforced Autoclave Aerated Concrete, a risky building material, has increased to 40 in Scotland, and more than 100 in England. In Scotland, nine universities have closed or partially closed buildings due to this risk. Though the Chancellor has pledged to make English schools safe, the Scottish Government will bear the cost of remediation.
