A man with learning disabilities, known as Ben, who experienced abuse and trauma at Veilstone care home in Devon, has been awarded a confidential amount of damages, while his mother Claire was awarded £10,000. The High Court found Devon County Council and the NHS, who have apologised, liable for providing “wholly inadequate” care violating Ben’s human rights.
