Low Budget Should Not Mean High Risk: Kids’ Tablet Came Preloaded with Sketchyware

Android devices, even those sold by reputable online vendors like Amazon, can come with pre-installed malware and riskware, as was found on a Dragon Touch KidzPad Y88X 10 kid’s tablet. The lack of security standards and quality assurance by vendors contributes to this issue. This is of particular concern for devices marketed toward children. The Dragon Touch tablet was also found to feature an outdated parental control app and unwanted apps that collect and send data, posing additional privacy issues.
