Medical device security is in a dire state. Legacy devices, some with lifespans of up to 20 years, are difficult to replace, meaning many hospitals are grappling with outdated technology that lacks built-in security features. Moreover, accountability for testing and securing medical devices is difficult to establish. As a result, hacker attacks on medical devices are a serious concern and are already happening.
