Health system CIOs’ strategic responsibilities continue to evolve

CIOs in healthcare are increasing their role in determining organisational strategy and digital transformation, with 84% now part of the executive team, according to a WittKieffer survey. Around 54% report directly to the CEO, and 20% now hold the title Chief Digital and Information Officer. Operational focus is on adopting AI and machine learning (anticipated by 92% of CIOs by 2025) and enhancing security procedures. Despite high turnover (53% in roles for less than three years), job satisfaction is strong.
