Hackers hit 320% more healthcare providers in 2016 than in 2015, per HHS data

The number of hacking attacks on healthcare providers increased by 320% from 2015 to 2016, with 81% of all breached records being a result of these attacks, according to a study by consulting firm CynergisTek. The majority of these attacks occurred at smaller clinics, rather than large healthcare organizations. The study also highlights the need for providers to take a more comprehensive and proactive approach to protecting patient information.
