FDA Reinstates ‘DOGED’ Medical Device Staff Amid Cybersecurity, Health Concerns

The US FDA has reinstated employees responsible for medical device oversight after uproar over their termination by the Department of Government Efficiency. Approximately 900 employees were initially dismissed, drawing criticism from health advocates, industry leaders and cybersecurity experts. The decision was feared to disrupt medical device approval, testing and recalls. The number of rehired employees has not been disclosed, but includes medical device reviewers and food safety specialists. Some agencies remain affected by job cuts. The controversy has prompted calls for more oversight of DOGE’s federal workforce reductions.
