The US has shut down the IPStorm malware network, which infected several device types and was reportedly used for cybercrime. Russian Sergei Makinin, who admitted to creating and launching the malware, could face 30 years in jail. He reportedly made at least $550,000 from the business, selling illegal access to around 23,000 proxies. The various infected devices’ users seemed oblivious to the operation, with the FBI claiming it took down the network without disturbing any of the compromised computers.
