Cyber-talent shortage can put healthcare organizations at risk

The global cyber-talent shortage is making it difficult for organizations to keep up with cybersecurity. In the United States, there is a shortfall of 314,000 cybersecurity professionals, and the global gap is estimated to be 4 million. This talent shortage is causing direct and measurable damage to organizations. Healthcare organizations face a high level of exposure to threats and attacks, and the attack surface is growing every day without enough skilled professionals to defend it. Some strategies for healthcare CISOs include accelerating detection of compromise, addressing under-skilled organizations, and maintaining an up-to-date incident response plan. Until the cyber-skills gap is closed, CISOs must focus on a risk-based approach to cybersecurity.
