Atlantic General Hospital in Maryland successfully weathered a ransomware attack in January, with key services remaining operational, according to CEO Dan Owrey. The attack impacted outpatient services but did not compromise the hospital’s electronic health records. Meanwhile, a cybercrime forum, BreachForums, remained active even after its administrator, known as “Pompompurin,” was arrested. The forum has previously facilitated data breaches, including the sale of information stolen from the FBI’s InfraGuard program. Florida-based business associate Independent Living Systems announced a data breach affecting over four million individuals. The breach exposed a range of sensitive information, including social security numbers and medical records.
