Connecticut HIPAA breach affects 1,400

The University of Connecticut Health Center has notified 1,400 patients of a healthcare data breach. A former employee accessed patient records, including names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and clinical data. The affected patients were sent individual notifications and offered a free two-year credit monitoring service. Connecticut has seen nine data breaches affecting over 173,000 patients since 2009.
