AMA, AHA partner on COVID-19 cyber threats guidance for hospitals, physicians

The American Medical Association and the American Hospital Association have released a paper offering guidance to healthcare organizations on strengthening cybersecurity in response to a rise in cyber threats exploiting the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper recommends using virtual private networks, cloud-based services, enhanced email security protocols, multi-factor authentication, antivirus software, and strong passwords. It also highlights the need to exercise caution with phishing emails and to secure medical devices. Major technology companies, like Microsoft, are also offering cybersecurity assistance to healthcare organizations during the pandemic.
