Germany sinkholes BadBox malware pre-loaded on Android devices

Germany’s Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) interrupted the BadBox malware operation loaded in over 30,000 Android IoT devices, including digital frames, media players and potentially tablets and smartphones. The malware can steal data, install more malware, or enable remote network access. The BSI is sinkholing the malware to block communication between the malicious services and the infected devices. Owners of infected devices are advised to disconnect them.
