UnitedHealth cyber attack impacted 100m, says US government

The tech unit of UnitedHealth’s subsidiary, Change Healthcare, experienced a cyber attack by BlackCat (ALPHV) which affected the data of 100 million people. Social Security numbers, health insurance member IDs, and other private information may have been exposed. This breach is the largest to hit the U.S. healthcare sector. UnitedHealth ended up paying a $22 million dollar ransom to ALPHV, resulting in a total loss of $872 million.
